Although I rarely write about current events, I was thrilled to read about the stand REI is taking regarding Black Friday.
According to Forbes Magazine, REI shocks retail world by closing on Black Friday, paying 12,000 employees to "Opt Outside".

REI says it will be closing each of their 143 stores on this high-volume sales day and, as they put it, “paying our employees to head outside".An expensive move to be sure, and while the closings may inconvenience some, it certainly aligns with REI's mission that "being outside makes our lives better".
