Tips & Tricks for Storing Celery
In our house celery gets used up very slowly. So I needed to find a way to get the celery to stay fresh in the refrigerator as long as possible.
If you leave the celery unwashed in the plastic bag from the store, it could last about two weeks. But you can double that time to four weeks or more if you first wrap the stalk in two layers of paper towel, then wrap the whole thing tightly in aluminum foil.
Give it a try, you will be amazed how much longer the celery stays fresh!
If you have a stalk that is already wilting, try reviving it by setting the bottom end of the stalk in water, while still in the refrigerator. If you plan on serving the celery raw, you may be able to re-crisp cut celery by soaking it in ice water for 2 to 3 hours.
